PTR setup correctly?
hi all,
how can I verify, that PTR entry (reverseDNS) for mailserver is setup correctly?? is a #dig -x <ip.address> sufficient, if there comes an ANSWER-section back? |
yes, or just do an nslookup <IP address> and see if it responds
|
yes, but my current problem is, that PTR seems to be correct, but AOL´s rDNS-check "kicks" my emails!
<dig -x ip> shows ;; ANSWER SECTION: xxx.xxx.xxx.xx.in-addr.arpa. 93599 IN PTR host.domain.tld which is correct! so what is wrong, PTR entry from ISP or mailserver-setup ??? hope someone can help.............. |
Make sure that the hostname in your mail server greeting matches your host.domain.tld
I would recommend doing a test at http://www.dnsreport.com |
thx, but it´s all correct!
...found out, that it must have something to do with the smtp-headers ´X-Mailer´ and/or ´X-Authentication´. seems to work now, hmm, will have an eye on it........ any further ideas,tipps,.....welcome ;-) |
hi guys,
today the same old shit. again not working with or without headers_removed! what does a mailserver check when he do a rDNS?? smtp-headers? only if a ptr exists....for what, domain-name? |
