proxy service provider setting?


Hi,
I am using CentOS on Virtual box(windows 7). I am absolutely new to CentOS. I am presently accesing internet through LAN of my organisation. Here they have proxy server provider so can't mention the proxy server address. How to provide proxy providers address?

There are two ways a VM can access the internet. One is bridged and the other is nat.

Bridged takes the host's nic address but you may have to then edit in proxy's in the linux config not only for your browser but for various apps like wget or apt or such.


Nat uses a virtual router that is part of the virtual machine. You get an IP in dhcp assigned to the VM client. Same as above you basically have to set your local proxy information in various places.
