Proxy problem with firefox, thunderbird and urpmi

Hey,

I recently moved from behind a corporate proxy server to no proxy server at all. However, when i installed mandriva, I set it up with proxy variables and now for some reason i can't unset them. Firefox, Thunderbird, URPMI and any other programme (besides konqueror and kmail) will not connect to the internet and simply time out. Anybody heard of a similar problem and know how to fix it?? I've unset the variables in urmpi.cfg and in the GUI in drakconfig, but nothing helps. Thanks in advance.
