Proxy issue with Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS - Unable to apt-get update

Hi,

I'm on Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS. I've been trying to set up internet connection in the past week in vain. These were the steps what i followed. I.e i have modified my environment file to have the
Code:
http_proxy=username:password@proxyIP:port
variables and i did the same with the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/95proxies file as well then i rebooted.
All in all, i think i did everything correctly to get my machine work with the proxy. However it's not working. Here are the symptopms:
Output of ping:
Code:
$ping 8.8.8.8
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.34.8 icmp_seq=2 Packet filtered
Here is short version of the output what I'm getting when I try to do apt-get update
Code:
$ sudo apt-get update
Ign:1 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial InRelease
whole lot more lines with Ign then a bunch of
Code:
Unable to connect to {proxy'sIP:port}:
Ign:80 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main i386 Packages
and finally:
Code:
Reading package lists... Done

One more detail. My server is part of a VLAN

I'm pretty much clueless what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Talking fals alarm

Sorry, it turns out that i got a bad IP:Port pair. I fixed it in the config and it seems apt-get is working now.
