Proxy and messenger

Hi there all!
I am in a network guarded by a firewall and a proxy. I have centericq and use icq, msn and yahoo... at least want to use. Now, i looked on the internet for the hostort stuff needed to be unblocked by the network administrator in order to be able to connect to my messenger protocols.

yahoo: don't remember the host but the port is 5050

Just Yahoo protocol works fine from these three... The Other two are dead. Now, the tricky part is that in windows i copied the original program for all the three protocols(MSN Messenger 7.5, Yahoo Messenger 7.5 and Icq 2003) and they ALL work fine!!! Somebody explain HOW is that possible!!!

Sometimes those protocols use an HTTP header (or they embed their protocol in http-like packets) in order to bypass a proxy/firewall.

Could be that.
