Angry Propagation DNS Bind and my lack of experience

Hi

I have a shiny new server and have attempted to set up bind. I have created master zones for all my domains and changed the ns records that I created at the domain registrar - ensuring I input the new IP

But I am not propagating

Dig gives me

Code:
server31584:~# dig castawaysforum.com @94.23.230.222

; <<>> DiG 9.5.1-P3 <<>> castawaysforum.com @94.23.230.222
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
server31584:~#
Which on googling and searching this forum tells me I may have a port 53 problem

Its a new server and I havent "turned on" Iptables yet - so I am sure its not a firewall issue (Well as sure as a noob can be - lol)

I have no idea what to do from here

Is anyone available to assist

Thanks

GMC

dig @127.0.0.1 castawaysforum.com
and got this

Code:
server31584:~# dig @127.0.0.1 castawaysforum.com

; <<>> DiG 9.5.1-P3 <<>> @127.0.0.1 castawaysforum.com
; (1 server found)
;; global options: printcmd

This seems to work.... have I missed something in the set up??

Its working, is not it? Then what is the problem?

Can you change your query in the first post to

dig @your_dns_server castawaysforum.com
and see if you get the reply?

That you get the right reply from your own dns server (aka @127.0.0.1) should just be. Else you would have misconfigured something.
The reason why the outworld can see you is that propagation normally take 24 hours to go through. So take your time, go out have a beer and a pizza and when you wake up tomorrow everything should be fine

It appears that I did set something up - I have an unmanaged server and paid the host to fix my screw up

Thanks for the responses!!
