i'm running a web server with ubuntu edgy, and proftpd to remote install files. the problems is that when i try to ftp into it on my local network, it times out, but on another internet connection, it works just fine. any suggestions? Thanks!!!
Would you post your entire configuration or give some more infos !You say if you connect from your lan it times out , but not from internet , correct ?How is you firewall ?Any tcpwrappers?
i also tried vsftpd, but i switched to pure-ftpd, and i am still having the same problem. it just sits there at getting file list. my router just for everyone's fyi is a linksys befw11s4. i should also mention that it used to work within the lan.
If you have a firewalll ... have a go without and see what happens , it can be also permissions on directories ftp involved and default umask on server configuration you say just so little about you r scenario that i can say much more than this !!!
