proftpd on Slackware linux


I've installed proftpd on my system ( Slackware 10 ) but I can not configure it and can not stop or start it too.

If any detail document about proftpd ( on Slackware is too good ) , should me please ! !

you may have to

edit /etc/inetd.conf and perhaps uncomment proftpd line (ftp)
and
# kill -1 `pidof inetd`
