Problems with samba


hello there. i have a problem with samba
i just installed fedora core 3 i had red had before. with red had i had a bad time trying to install samba. finally i did install it. now i backed up the files from the rh9 in the samba folder and copied the to th samba folder in my new fedora core. but it soes not work. what can i do???

wokgroup = home
netbios name = Server
server string = samba
encrypt passwords = yes
log file = /var/log/samba.log
log level = 1
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
guest ok = yes
guest account = hdc
os level = 255

then my shares..
what could be wrong

I do not see where you have the security type set up such as
security = user
or security = share

Most prefer security = user which will force you to make samba users by issuing
smbpasswd -a username userpassword

What are the errors you get ?

Post your log files & testparm output.

You mean you copied /etc/samba/* (rh9) to /etc/samba/ (fedora).

At any terminal... run command "testparm" .
