I have a Mandrake Linux 8.0 box (kernel 2.4.8) that I'm attempting to set up as a router for my home network. It uses pppoe to connect to the internet via eth0. I have eth1 set up as 192.168.14.1 and serveral linux/win boxes

I can ping from my internal network to the internet, I can ping the DNS server on the internet, my resolv.conf on the internal network is correct, I can ftp/telnet to the internet (using ip addresses), but as soon as I try to ftp or telnet using DNS it doesn't work. When I trace on the internal network, I see responses from the DNS to the internal linux box.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

humms do DNS is not working and resolv.conf is good. i would try disabling DNS on the router. also no doubt you have a firewall, you may wish to check it out to make sure it is okay.
