problems with libipq man page

I followed libipq man page to direct icmp packets to the user space. The program works as expected, but, as soon as the program exits, ping command stops working. I have confirmed that ipq_destroy_handle, which is supposed to destroy context handle and associated resources, is run before the program exits. Does someone know why ping doesn't work after the program (included in the libipq manpage) is run? Is there a remedy for this problem? Thank you in advance.
