Arrow Problems with dnscache.

Hi all,

I set up dnscache following the instructions on .
Everything was fine until I tried to test it from another machine, and that failed completely.

The machine running the dnscache can do a nmap on itself, using either, or it's address on the local network, and see that port 53 is open.

My machine, on the other, can nmap to it's hearts content, and see that port 53 on the dnscache machine is closed or filtered, depending on the nmap options.

I assume that there is something getting in the way, either on my machine or the dnscache machine, or somewhere in the network, but I don't have any idea how to figure out what it is.
My machine and the dnscache machine are the only linux ones on the network, or I would try from another machine.

It sounds like maybe you have a firewall going? Maybe try iptables -L and post the output here if you think you need to.

Are you trying toget tinydns running also? What do you plan to do with this caching server? Are you planning to have it speed up DNS queries for the machine that is running the cache? Or is this going to be used for your LAN as well?
