Problems with connection between 2 servers. Solaris & Redhat

Hi,

I am running 2 servers:

1 - Solaris 10 - s01
2 - RedHat Linux - s02

I have created links between the 2 servers so that s01 can see

s02:/archives/pdc_archive

This link works fine and is accessible & the ping to fs02 is also alive.
However when I try to telnet into s02 it says the connection is refused.
I have installed some backup software (HP Data Protector) which should allow me to backup from several servers accross the network. However s01is unable to connect to s02. I dont really know where to start, i am a newbie, but posting this in the newbies section just wasnt going to cut it!

I have been trying to find out information about the firewalls on the machines but HOW and WHERE is this information stored on both machines.

Also, have samba running which is working fine. I understand I can access specific mount folders with no problems, fair enough. But why can I ping accross and NOT telnet accross. What network or Firewall settings can I tweak to help this problem??

Why are u still using telnet in this day and age ? By default telnet will be disabled on any recent redhat machine.

To check the firewall settings run iptables -vnL and see what rules are in place then make changes to allow for your connections.
