PROBLEMS NETWORKIN from WINDOWS to MANDRAKE 9.2
Hello everybody !
I'm a new LINUX MANDRAKE 9.2 user and a got a big problem. I see all the WINDOWS machines from my LINUX PC and I can read and write the files in WIN machines from my LINUX PC. The problem is that I can't browse the LINUX PC from the WINDOWS PCs. The WIN NT 4.0 machines shows me the "Entrer the network password" window. When I try to connect all the ways are wrong. Another problem is that I can't browse the samba url (localhost:901) with Konqueror. Can you help me ? :) |
I have the reverse problem.....I can't seem to figure out how to browse our Windows NT network from my Mandrake 9.2 installation - can you explain how to do this?
I was able to hit my Linux machine by logging on as root with the root password.... hope this helps |

you probably did setup samba correctly. check to disable "guest account=yes" by add # in front of that line. check if you had add an account for samba in /etc/samba/smb.conf do "smbpasswd username" enter password. to check if you had add any username to samba. |
I am using Mandrake 9.1. I am also facing the same problem. I can see the Linux shares from the windows 2000 machine but whne I try to clik on the shared folder (the one On Linux machine), I am asked for password. When I fill in the password, I am not able to connect.
Another problem is that I can not print from windows machine to the printer that is connacted to the Linux machine. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks |
