Problems -Internet sharing Mandrake & XP

Hi,

I've recently installed Mandrake 9.2 on a PII 256mb ram. I'm desperate to get rid of Microsoft. Promised myself I'd move out in 3 months. Use Openoffice & Mozilla already - I figure I might as well be rid of the lot.

I'm trying to network my Girl's machine (P4 1gb Ram, G8KNXP, XP Pro) with my Mandrake 9.2 (thru a crossover cable) and for the life of me it wont work.

installed the network card on Mdk ..sweet no problems
I've run the network wizard to enable internet sharing on XP - no probs
ZA even picks up that theres a new network - confirms that its a trusted zone
Go to Mdk's Control center - choose DrakConnect

then I loose it a tad. Normally 2 xp machines sharing connect creates a gateway in one ... unsurprisingly - that aint happening!

I have on Mdk
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
says deactivate now - which is a good sign - figure it must be connected since the 1394 & LAN connection icons are connected in network places
For internet connection (Lan) gateway :192.168.0.1

Now .. I'm not sure what youre supposed to do on XP to make it work

I wouldnt normally turn for help - kinda try n work stuff out myself .. But I'm really stuck - its bothered me for longer than you can imagine. So - if any1 can help ... I'd really appreciate it

Cheers
Hamid

PS .. I have an obscure Conexant USb dsl modem - no drivers for linux - hence running the connection thru xp machine
