Problems in Streaming Video
Hi,
I seem to be having trouble streaming video. The video pauses every 3-5sec and sometimes stops alltogeather halfway through. I'm on cable internet and I'm not downloading anything while streaming and my system monitor says im getting 50-100kb/s. Also I have a fairly good video card, lots of ram, etc. I am using the KMplayer plugin for konqueror. I am behind a linksys BEFSR41 router. I have tried playing around with the cache size in KMplayer to no avail. Are there some ports I have to forward or something? Also sometimes when I'm downloading something it will be going along good and then just stall(related problem?)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have to say that overall I am a fan of linksys products, but I have seen them cause a lot of very flaky issues on networks. Recently I switched two networks that I'm responsible for over to linux routers, and a lot of weird issues went away.
I would suggest, for troubleshooting reasons (not longterm use), try connecting your computer directly to your cable/dsl/other modem, and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, perhaps look into other routers or upgrade the firmware.
I had the same router as you in one house, and there are quite a few firmware updates out there, it is always a good idea to stay current.
No promises that this has anything to do with it, but it is probably a decent starting place. I've seen linksys routers perform great, but I've had them do things from locking up entirely, ceasing all routing functionality, only working sometimes, and also causing issues with streaming like this, as well as hit and miss web browsing, where some requests were simply lost.
Regardless, upgrade the firmware in your router from the linksys website.
