Problems accessing my RH9 Apache web server from the URL!
G'day,
I am having problems accessing my RH9 Apache web server through its URL. I have a dynamic ip from my isp but have used dyndns.org to fix this. Each time i try to access the url all i receive is the login and password window from my adsl modem/router. I have made sure that port 80 is forwarded from my isp as well as on the modem/router. Also i can ping and traceroute the external ip no problem as well as surf the net from both pc's. What else can i do to fix this problem. My setup is: USB ADSL Modem/Router (10.0.0.2) | WIndows XP (10.0.0.17) | Switch | Redhat 9 (Apache web server (10.0.0.16) Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have been working on this for ages and am now getting very confused. Take a look at your router config - there is probably an options for external administrative access - turn that off then confirm that the port is forwarded and you should be OK.

Thanks for that. I have had a look at my router config but can't find anything called that or similar. Could it be called something else or what exactly should it be trying to do so that i can have a look at the config again.

It should be stopping the router from listening for requests to theadmn interface from the wan side. I assume your dyndns address resolves to your public ip address and that you are trying to access your site from outside your network. What router do you have?

Thanks again for that. I have a Web Excel PT-3808 modem/router. The dyndns address is resolving to my public ip address. I am not able to check from outside my lan as everyone over here who could check for me is now asleep. The URL is www.designs123.dynalias.com
Cheers for your help kman2045 |
I thnk it is becaues you are trying from inside your lan. I can see your apache test page fine. To test from outside (without you leaving your lan) try using a web proxy like guardster:

Thank you very much. I have been pulling my hair out for ages over this.

No problem - I assume it worked when using the web proxy?
