problem with too many 'ppp' interfaces started at boot time
Hello Linux gurus,
system: Thinkpad R51, Debian Sarge w/ 2.6.11 and an ADSL line.
problem: whenever I boot my system, 2 'ppp' interfaces are created: ppp0, ppp1. ( and of course I only have 1 ADSL modem here ) In order for the network to start working, I always have to manually do 'ifconfig ppp1 down' .
I think it all must have started when I run 'pppoeconf' one day. That command must have somehow created the second ppp interface.
Any tips on how to tell pppd to bring up 'ppp0' only? I tried looking at files in /etc/ppp/, but there's really nothing that looks like it might be the reason of the problem.
