problem with ppp connection

Hi all, I have a problem when Im trying to connect to internet via a modem using ppp connection. Im dialing to the correct number using wvdial and Im connected because I can see that DNS are assigned to me and also because Im getting and IP address but when I try to navigate using Mozilla I got the message that the page cannot be found. Maybe is a problem of the firewall stand-alone but I dont how to disable it. Any other possibilities??

Im using RedHat9 on a laptop IBM T20

thanks in advance

firstly, type route -n and your default gateway should be pointed to your "Remote IP" listed under your ppp0 device. If not, 'route add default gw <Remote IP>' .

If it is redhat's stupid default firewall rules, 'iptables -F' will get rid of them. There's probably a startup script that puts this firewall in there somewhere. If you don't use the firewall (I wouldn't.), find where it's being loaded and gank it.

Hi, thanks for the advice I already add the default gateway but there is still a problem. I think there is some restriction for some services, for example when I make a nslookup I can resolve a web site, lets say www.cisco.com I get an answer with the IP address of the page 198.133.219.25 and I can even make a ping to it but when I open the Mozilla and put http://www.cisco.com is not working but if I put http://198.133.219.25 it works....so there is a problem of resolution but where ???

thanks in advance
