Problem with Pop Gmail

Hi all,

Recently, I can not check Gmail in my Thunderbird client (ver 1.5) and I still don't know the reason (it worked well before). When I check email nothing happend. I've deleted the account and created a new one following the guide of Gmail.

I think the problem come from connection between my machine and Gmail sever. So is there a way to check that connection is good or not. I tried "ping pop.gmail.com"is Ok but I don't know how to check with port 995.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you confirmed that gmail hasn't lost your POP settings? On gmail's settings page, under "Forwarding and POP" you can enable POP and set some other stuff. It's easy to not click the Save Changes button - of course, I'd never do that myself <cough, cough>

You could also use wireshark (formerly ethereal) to sniff the traffic. Because it's encrypted you won't see the data, but you will see if pop.gmail.com responds to your connection attempts.

Thanks for your help.

I found that ethereal is a useful tool in many cases.
