Problem with networkin in Mepis
I downloaded the Mepis 3.3
and everythin worked fine when i used to "try" to configure the networkin in Mepis.....my system used to hang like anything.... this happened with both the Live Cd as well as after installation what may be wrong? CD is Md5 checked |
How did you try to configure your network? Are you on a LAN? What's the output of
Code:
#/sbin/ifconfig Probably, you should try Code:
# /sbin/ifconfig eth0 up |
i will surely try that and let u know
what i did was I tried from both the live cd as well as installing mepis... there were many colums etho eth1 etc.. i set the static DNS settings, then my static IP settings,. 2-3 times my computer hanged like anything.......but then i was lucky..... but then in the status tab, i tried to restart the card...... out of the two, only one could start and stop.... the other wont start... why was that.. |
You said one of the two cards was able to start and stop, do you mean it works now by that?
Just wondering: why do you need two networking cards? I think they may be conflicting or so. |
not the cards, i meant the options........
there were two options for start and stop.... i could start one, but couldn't start the other.... i haven't installed it anymore now.....so i don't remember.... can u tell me the perfect procedure for starting the networkin in Mepis.... and one more thing..... can i run the internet from the Live CD? |
I think I might have a similar problem - the nic connected to my dsl modem (eth0) connects automatically, but the nic conencted to the crossover cable going to my wife's pc (eth1) won't connect. Any suggestions? I've install Firestarter to allow connection sharing so I'll see how that goes.
Funnily enough, on Fedora Core 3, the nic to my dsl is eth1 and local network is eth0... Kodephreak 8) |
