Unhappy problem with network (very slow net)


hi friends

i have a problem in ubuntu 5.10


that's happend after a booting error

at

synchronizing clock to ntp.ubuntulinux.org. [Fail]

wht is the meaning of this error?


i get ping on yahoo site ,my getway & DNS


then i connected to the internet

but

a very very very slow connection

not as normal

when i open windows xp i can open sites normaly

wht is the way to return to the old high speed to the inernet?

before days connection was very fast

***Note***

from 2 or 3 days i changed the my cable's (R J)

is that the reason ?!!!!!!

some sites are fast and alot of sites are very slow

Awesome. The NTP error is probably just a firewall issue, it doesn't matter it won't kill you. Are ping times normal or are they higher as well? It could be a IPv6 issue, what browser are you using? Download a file from a ftp site and see if the download speed is slower at all.

Need more information pal.

yeah ping times is normal

i'm using friefox 1.0.8

yes downloading became very slow than normaly

**note**

sometimes connection returns to its normal speed and then return bad

you need to type that command as root... this means... first type 'su' enter the root/admin password... then type the ifconfig -a command.. you should get something... i hope :-)
