Do you know what the make and model of your ethernet card?
If it is integrated in to the motherboard then post its make and model number.

What type of internet connection are you using? Where is the PC atttempting to getting its IP address from?

Can you post the output of the command
/sbin/lsmod

This will show if the ethernet card module is loading.

Also post the output of the command
/sbin/ifconfig
