Problem with Compaq TokenRing Nic NC4621 PCI
Hi!
Having a problem with Compaq TokenRing Nic NC4621 PCI.
I'am unable to get ip address through dhcp. Is this card even supported?
Has any one been able to get this card to work and with what driver.
The driver I'am using tms380tr in kernel 2.4.18. Linux distribution is RH 7.2.
messags file shows this:
-----><-----
May 6 12:47:53 localhost sysctl: net.ipv4.ip_forward = 0
May 6 12:47:53 localhost sysctl: net.ipv4.conf.default.rp_filter = 1
May 6 12:47:53 localhost sysctl: kernel.sysrq = 0
May 6 12:47:54 localhost network: Setting network parameters: succeeded
May 6 12:47:54 localhost network: Bringing up interface lo: succeeded
May 6 12:47:54 localhost ifup: Determining IP information for tr0...
May 6 12:47:54 localhost ifup:
May 6 12:47:54 localhost ifup: < -n -t 60 -H tr0 >
May 6 12:47:54 localhost dhcpcd[1406]: dhcpStart: ioctl SIOCGIFHWADDR: No such device
May 6 12:47:54 localhost ifup: failed.
May 6 12:47:54 localhost network: Bringing up interface tr0: failed
------><-----
I gues kernel has not found the card.
/proc/pci shows cards info correctly.
Yours, Jaska

Hello.
I hope you are using Gnome, cuz then it's really easy for me to tell you. If your card is configured at all you can do two things.
One is go to Gnome menue, Programs, System, Network Configuration.
Run Network Configuration, and if you see your card in there, then your system did dectect it sucessfully, so it may be some other problem.
The other way to check is if you type as the command prompt
/sbin/ifconfig
This should show you your eth0, and lo.
Try'em and see what happens
