Problem Recognising NIC
I'm having a hell of a time trying to configure the NIC and DSL services. (I come from the world of clicking on the "next" button)
I have read a lot of docs/faqs that other people have posted with no avail. I have successfully installed Redhat Linux 7.3... and the NIC is a 3Com 3C905 (which is their standard nic) What am I doing wrong? or is there an easier way to get the NIC to be recognised? Thanks, Simon |
Where do you have problem?
To see if your NIC is visible in the system use cat /proc/pci and look if you can see your NIC mentioned there. Then you need to run a driver for it insmod modulename Get the driver from 3com site. (I'm using Lynx now, so I can't copy the link for you). |
my mistake
Sorry, I have a 3cr990-tx-97 card. I had wrote it down incorrectly.
I'll try the drivers on the 3com site. If they do not work (3com does not support linux yet but they have a number of drivers that I can try)... Thanks, Simon |
