problem on lan

Outside of my LAN at home, no one can access my computer by ssh, apache web server, telnet, ftp and probably more, but computers behind in the LAN can access those services on my computer. I tried DMZ, port forwarding, upgrading the firmware on my router and more. I tried everything the Linksys technicians told me to do, and I talked to several. Now I think that the problem could be with my Westell DSL modem. Someone in my family says it has a firewall in it, but will not tell me anything else. I wonder if this person changed some of the settings to make it hard to get in it, or that I have to use another port. I tried unplugging the router from the DSL modem and plugging my computer directly into the DSL modem. I tried http://192.168.1.1 http://my.public.ip.address, and I tried a few more. None worked. What other problems could be causing this to happen? How can I access my DSL modems setup page? I also tried accessing the DSL modems setup page from another LAN by the same method. I could not there either, and I do not think anyone there is smart enough to go in there and change things to make it hard to get in. It is also a Westell modem by the same ISP. I have emailed Westell. Westell told me to plug my computer directly into the modem and browse http://192.168.1.1 When I replied after it had been a while later. They did not reply to me.

problem on lan

Hello,

You can take a look here : http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...estell2410.asp and here : http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...oline-6000.asp

I also use a ADSL Router and don't have problem. If you want a computer of you LAN recheable from outside the LAN you have to find the port forwarding with something like 'virtual server' or something else.

Don't forget to change the default password when configuring the router.

Wht i got that your DSL modem ip is 192.168.1.1.

Whts your machine ip ? with which you are directly connecting to DSL modem. I think you mentioned you have some public IP or some other LAN ip.

Please feedback your local machine ip ????

If you really wanna access your DSL modem configuration page. Change your machine ip to like 192.168.1.2 & then open 192.168.1.1 in your browser. It will work.

Feedback.
