I have the following problem:
I have a P120 which I use as a NAT for my @home cable. It's got redhat 7.0 installed because I need ipchains to be able to forward netmeeting video connections for my roommate.
Recently I was having some speed issues, and @home asked me to leave the pc on for 2 whole days. This was fine with me because it was already running 100+ days.
Just to be sure, I turned of sshd and xinetd so nothing could go wrong when @home started doing whatever they were planning on doing.
After a week I turned sshd and xinetd back on, but now I can't connect to my P120 anymore via ssh. I've restarted the sshd several times, but I never found myself able to connect again.
My ipchains settings are not blocking the port.
If anybody has got any ideas on how this could be happening, I would very much like to hear them, because I'm getting tired of having to get a monitor up to the server everytime I need to make some adjustments.
That is not the problem. Those settings are okay. The problem is the pc is telling me sshd is running, but when I port probe that pc, the sshd port does not show up, so apparently the ssh deamon is not listening on it's port, nor any other for that mather. Are there any other services that need to run in order for sshd to be able to run?
