problem in running NAM

Hi dears,

I am trying to run example, /ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/tcl/ex/wireless.tcl on NS2 to test wireless network with 50 nodes, it correctly generates out.nam and out.tr but once I try to run command "nam out.nam" the nam window is opened for few seconds and then the window is gone!! and I couldn't visualise this example till now, what is wrong with this example?? though NAM works correctly with me in other examples but this is the first WSN with 5o node!!

Quote:
mariam@ubuntu:~$ cd ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/tcl/ex
mariam@ubuntu:~/ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/tcl/ex$ exec nam out.nam
Cannot connect to existing nam instance. Starting a new one...
I have another question, I want to simulate WSN multi-path routing protocol like SMR "Split Multi-path Routing" for example, is it implemented in NS2.34 or should I implement it from scratch?
could u support me with any helpful materials??

Thanks in advance,
Mariam

Sounds like NS2 is connected to the wrong WSN on the NAM. I'd split the SMR, if I were you

PS:
Please provide just a WEE BIT more information exactly what you're trying to do, how specifically everything is configured, and what precisely is going wrong.

Well, first thanks a lot for your quick response.

1- "Sounds like NS2 is connected to the wrong WSN on the NAM" ;as a new member in linux/ns2 world; how can i know is NS2 is connected to another WSN,..?

2- "I'd split the SMR, if I were you", do u mean that I will implement it is there any similar protocol to SMR, take it and edit??

3- My problem is:
these days are my learning stage of WSN simulation with NS2 to be able to simulate my protocol which is similar to SMR, I start trying as most as possible the examples which provided by NS2 in wireless network.

I type the commands which I sent above, once I call the nam commmand the nam window is opened and gone!

hope that I am clear
waiting your reply

Hi -

I was being facetious.

Perhaps a better way to phrase the question might have been:
Quote:
I'm using "NS-2" (All-in-One v2.3.4 Network Simulator), with the NSNAM animation tool, on Ubuntu. I've configured 50 nodes, and NS2 correctly generates out.nam and out.tr.

But when I try and run it through NAM, the window is opened for few seconds and then the window is gone! It works fine for one node: could 50 nodes be the problem?
Unfortunately, I don't know

Some links that might help (assuming you don't already have them):
http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/
http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/nam/
http://nsnam.isi.edu/nsnam/
http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/ns-faq.html

You might also want to try out the validation tests:
http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/ns-tests.html

This could be a great way to educate yourself on the software, as well as what configuration might or might not be valid.

But your best bet is to subscribe to one or more of these news groups, and post your questions there:

http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/ns-lists.html

'Hope that helps .. PSM
