hi
i am using redhat linux 7.3 in this there is a menu Samba Configuration. when i ttry to configure the samba using this it opens a Galeon browser and look for the url http://127.0.01:901/ and the gives me an error The Connection was refused when attempting to contact http://127.0.01:901/
Can any body pls tell me what this 901port do and how to connect with this.
port 901 is used for SWAT, a web front end for samba. you don't need it, there's nothign you can't do just by looking etc /etc/samba/smb.conf don't be scared of editing fiels by hand, you'll learn so much more so much faster.
Puru - had the same problem. You need to edit /etc/xinetd.d/swat to allow you to connect to SWAT. Change the default line disable=yes to disable=no then you must restart xinetd from the terminal with the line /etc/init.d/xinetd restart <enter> you will then be able to start SWART which uses a browser window. This will put you into the GUI for configuring SAMBA
