Angry Problem accessing anything outside my local network.

I just installed Debian Linux 3.1 on an old computer, about to be turned into a server, but I am having truble accessing anything outside of my local network. I have no proboms pinging or accessing any of the other computers on my network, but when I try to ping my isp's DNS server, which I was able to do on one of my other computers with no probloms, it gets no response. I then tried afew other ip addresses outside my network, and none of them worked either. I descoverd this problom after trying to run an apt-get update. I checked my resolv.conf and it looked fine, but I don't know if this could even have anything to do with this problem. Has anyone else had this problom and know how to fix it?
