I have the same problem with an US Robotics 56K Fax Modem Ext Sp.
Under Slackware Linux 10.0, I am not able to do pulse dialing. Everytime when I send ATDP#phone_number# (from any program: kppp, minicom or wvdial) the modems perform tone dialing....
However, from Windows2K everything works fine after I installed the USR driver from its CD.

The USR 56K Fax Modem Ext. Sp. it's a hardware modem, do you thing that using a special Linux driver will help ?

Thank you.
