Probably a common question....Prob with Network Anywhere 10/100

It is a Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 Model NC100 and I have just installed Red Hat 9.0

I forgot to have a cat 5 plugged in during installation..so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything.

The first day I installed it I did the internet configuration and didn't see the card on the list. So I chose a randomn one that looked right like intel etherexpress 100 or somethin, and I plugged in the cable, activated the thing, and it ended up working.

Well, I restarted and things started going wrong. I can't get online now.

I check the Hardware Browser and undernetwork devices it says it sees it, and it says the driver is tulip, which I read up on and is right.

So now what the crap do I do?

I choose eth0 and I have the DCHP and auto detect IP and everything set up.

Sorry if this isn't enough details. This is the first time ever I have dealt with linux other than playing frozen bubble on knoppix

And I was never that great at dos, I just got the basics down.

So I am dying to learn more, butt before I really get started learning...I want some internet access.

Luckily I have my pimped XP system next to me to type these probs....

You need to use the tulip driver for this card. Not the Intel EE100 driver.

Ok... I see you figured that out. Assuming you use DHCP on your network you should just need to run dhcpcd on eth0 (assumine the tulip module is loaded and hte network card is bound to eth0). You can figure that you buy typing ifconfig and seeing what devices pop up. lsmod will tell you if the driver is loaded. If tulip support is compiled directly into your kernel then type dmesg and look for the cards init.

There is a Linux book to download, Rute from Paul Sheer. I'm not at home or I'd give you the url. But it describes network-setting-up very succinctly.
Just be root then enter ifconfig or /sbin/ifconfig, to look at your setup, assuming you have one.
Start and stop networking with /etc/init.d/network start (or stop)
That's the most I know at the mo.
