Hi all,
I've a HP LaserJet 5000 printer connected to the Windows 2000 Server machine and I'm trying to print to the printer from my RedHat 7.1 Linux box.
I tried to set up the printer by typing "printconf-gui" tool in KDE and I've entered the following information:
Queue Name: NetPrinter
Queue Type: Windows Printer (SMB Share)
Share: server_name/HPLaser5000
User: Martian
Host IP: 192.168.0.2 (IP of Windows 2000 Server box)
Password: (None)
Workgroup: DOMAIN
Translate \n => \r\n: enabled
and I've selected the appropriate driver in the Printer Driver list. Then I restarted the lpd daemon by clicking Apply and tried to print a test page. However, the HP printer does not respond at all.
My Linux box has joined the workgroup DOMAIN in which other Windows machines are and I've created an account for my Linux box at the Windows 2000 server too. All the other Windows machine can use the HP printer normally.
Here's how my /etc/printcap looks like:
NetPrinter:\
:sh:\
:ml=0:\
:mx=0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/NetPrinter:\
:lp=|/usr/share/printconf/smbprint:\
:lpd_bounce=true:\
:if=/usr/share/printconf/mf_wrapper:
Does anyone know what I might have done wrong or missed? Thanks a lot!
