Printing on Windows XP Home
I have a problem, which seems pretty common from the number of similar posts, of printing from a Linux (Mandrake 9.1) box to a printer on a Windows XP Home machine. I have managed to establish the network and can see and share files, and can see the printer driver on the Windows box from Linux.
Problem may be that I have an HP3100 on the Windows box. This is not normally usable under Linux, or by different flavours of Windows on a network. But by a fiddle involving Ghostscript, I can use it if I boot the Linux machine in Windows ME. I feel I should be able to do the same from Linux.
It involves setting a postscript driver (I'm using Apple Laserwriter NTX) which Ghostscript redirects to the HP3100 via Ghostview and Redmon.
I cannot get a test page to print from Printerdrake in KDE, and am totally confused between Samba and Cups configurations
smb.conf follows (for what it is worth):
