Hi.

I have a PC desktop running RH9 with an HP960C connected locally. I have set up the printer correctly, and can print test pages. I have also shared the printer to all hosts.

The network just consists of a hub and the two work stations. The second PC is a VMEbus computer running RH9 also. I can brouse to see the shared printer on the desktop, however, it shows a triangle with a ! in it on the printer. I cannot print from any application, and when I bring up the print queue, it says that the printer is "not active."

Any idea why this isn't working for me? I'm trying to use CUPS to print, not LPD.

Okay. Now I've done something that will not even let me see the printer on the remote host. The only file I edited was /etc/hosts.allow, on both machines with the host names, then I rebooted both PC's and now I can't even see the printer show up in the printer list. I deleted the hosts that I added to /etc/hosts.allow, however, that didn't fix the problem...

Should it be this difficult to share a printer running the same OS?
