print to a network printer from win98 machine

Dear Fellows ,

Hi

Atlast i have sent print to a printer attached to a win98 machine using samba.

Now , i have a network print server hp2420 on my network and setup on linux machine to view jobs etc.

now i want to send print to that network printer from my win98 machine.

when i installed printer on win98 machine , it asks for drivers.

Is that a way to get driver automatically , like windows printer sharing.

If the linux box and samba is configured to print to the HP then it should be possible to get the driver to load automatically in windows. How you configure smb.conf depends on the version of samba installed on the linux box.

The correct driver for Win98 will need to come from somewhere, i'm not sure you can just make it materialise on the network by effort of will ... have you checked the vendors website to see if drivers are even available for this platform?

Yes, you do need to save the windows drivers on the linux box and configure samba in order for them to load automatically.
