Primary DNS with Comcast Static IP

Hello,

Can anyone give me some help? One of my clients just went from a Comcast dynamic IP address to a Static IP. After using ifconfig and route commands and setting up the IP address, subnet mask, broadcast IP and the default gateway it is up and running.

My question is where do I add the Primary & Secondary DNS addresses. They gave me this info on the work order but, I'm not sure where they go. I know with the dynamic address they are assigned dynamical so I'm thinking I need these placed somewhere when things have changed to Static.

Oh, you probably want to know what system they are running. It's a Red Hat linux box with two NIC's. Running a gateway, firewall and postfix email.

Thanks for the help in advance,

Wayne

If I understand your post correctly, you would need to add the nameserver entries to /etc/resolv.conf
