PPTPD server on Linux

Greetings,

I have Red Hat 5. I want to setup a PPTPD server on my machine. I need help on the following points:

1) A workable tar.gz package of the pptpd server.
2) key points of the pptpd.conf file like the localip and remoteip.
3) do I also need to configure the /ppp/options file.
4) what config do I need for /ppp/chap_secrets

if there is any other requirement or file who needs to be touched, please mention!

1) i think the package you are looking for is "ppp" (ie: yum install ppp), it is for centos at least..
2) my centos gateway doesnt have a pptp.conf, so im not sure on that one.. maybe its not used in RHEL based distros?
3) man pppd explains the command line options, i believe they are the same as the "options" file, mine is virtually empty.
4) chap-secrets contains the username and password (as they would be set in a DSL/etc modem) seperated by a tabs and an "*"

That was all i had to set up for my home aDSL1 connection, but there may be some non standard settings depending on ISP

Forgot to mention, make sure that chap-secrets is chmod 600, and chown root:root, for security reasons

I have installed pptpd-1.3.4.tar.gz but the file /etc/pptpd.conf is not created. Please suggest!

Apologies, i misread your original post, i thought you were trying to set up a DSL connection, not a VPN.
