pptpconfig - Failed to open /etc/pptpconfig/lock HELP!

Complete Newbie here...

I've searched this forum and googled the problem to no avail. I'm using the gui that runs when I type pptpconfig on the command line. I had a co-worker (a linux guy) get my laptop setup so I could enter the info needed and connect to my Windows work pc.

I entered the info on the Server tab of the gui:
Name: MyWork
User: myuserid
Password: mypassword

I get a popup: Failed to open /etc/pptpconfig/lock - information entered has not been saved.

What do I do?

Thanks for any assistance.

I stumbled across this -- I ran pptpconfig from command line. I received a message: blah blah blah, expecting ROOT user. Hmmmm

I su to root and rerun pptpconfig and the gui comes up and works. Now I have a message:

pptpconfig: pppd process terminated by signal 19 (failed)

Any thoughts on what causes this. I'm certain my info entered into the form is correct.
