pppd mysteriously disconnects
hello everyone,
i'm running a linux router (debian potato on a P100) pppd used pppoe to establish my connection over my cable modem this all works fine - NAT does work fine too now here's the funny thing I recently upgraded to 2.4.14 w/iptables (from 2.2.x w/ipchains) and updated pppoe 1.0 (from potato) to pppoe 3 (with the 2.4 kernel from the bunk archive, people.debian.org/~bunk) now pppd shuts down after a couple of active hours without, at least for me, a clear reason I do get thess messages: pppd: no response to 3 echo-requests pppd: serial link apears to be disconnected pppd: connection terminated pppoe: read (asyncReadFromPPP): Input/Output error pppd and pppoe both receive signal 15 is this suffiencient? if so, could anyone tell me how I keep my connection running? it never disconnected back in the days of kernel 2.2.x thanx Peter |
