Question pppd

I am having the world famous "timeout expired waiting for pppd". When I tried minicom I got this message:
"invalid autocommand 'ppp 199.224.64.21.'"

My isp is dynamically linked. I am guessing that this is the dynamic address I am supposed to use, but for some reason the ppp daemon rejects it.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

pppd works now, no idea why

I tried all kinds of combinations and finally tried putting the offending address in resolv.conf.

I finally got connected, but when I looked in resolv.conf the offending address is now gone.
