PPP Whats going on now

Lo,
Ok trying to switch a laptop to linux has never been easy but after getting the modem to work and dial out and connect you would think would be the worst problem.

System Igo Packard Bell (NEC)
Smart link modem
Athlon XP 1600+
30gb HDD
SuSE 8.1 Proffesional + KDE 3.1
USB 2.0 PCMCIA (Not working)
USB 2.0 HDD (Not working)

When i connect after a couple of minutes the connection goes dead and a bit latter disconnects. The ISP is keysurf, this seems to be a problem for alot of people. I am using KPPP and KInternet both do the same.

Hope someone knows how to fix this

David
