Thumbs down PPP Connection problem ..please help

Hi
I am using Red Hat 7.1 and struggle with kppp when I try to connect through a modem.
It seems like I am missing ppp0 device but I have no clue how to add this device or whatever I have it is ok. I have no traces of that device anywhere. I really would appreciate someone's help.
After I dial I get this message below and I also attach the console trace. Thank you so much for help.

Exit status: 16
See 'man pppd' for an explanation of the error codes
to take a look at the kppp FAQ on

Lightbulb wvdial

I've had many problems with pppd until I switched to wvdial. You can get it from http://www.freshmeat.net. I kept getting the same error on my ibm laptop and as soon as I compiled, installed, and configured (easy config!!) it worked and I've not had a problem since.

Highly recommended!

1. Check first u have installed pppd daemon first
2. check the kernel supporting pppd or recompile the kernel

This may solve ur problem
