Postfix to relay mail

I am overwhelmed by all the documentation out there on how to configure this package properly. I'm using postfix v2.2.5(?) and need to configure this as a server that can recieve mail and then relay that mail to my ISP's SMTP server. My ISP requires authorization and for me to use port 25.

How would I go about doing this?

I have the relayhost option set in my main.cf, but am unsure as how to proceed with the authorization(username and password)

Any insight would be most appreciated.

if all you're doing is sending out to an isp, then i wouldn't use postfix, instead look at "fake" smtp servers like esmtp or ssmtp which do nothing but relay to other servers with absolutely minimal configuration

hmm... after playing with this for a while, it seems that I'll have to execute this program everytime I want mail sent, is this correct? if it is, that's not what I want to do. I want a system totally automated, that I should only need to step in if my ISP's server rejects the e-mails. That's why I liked postfix because I could manage it via webmin. I was just confused as to how to do it.

it emulates both commandline sendmail usage and local port 25 access. you like postfix cos you can manage it through webmin? why would you want to manage anything? if you only want an outbound realy, there's nothing to manage at all. As above, also check esmtp. to be honest i can't see the ssmtp docs confirm that it listens on port 25, but esmtp definielty does, and again, once configured, needs no management ever.

Why would I want to manage it? because I would be able to see the mail queue. I like being able to see if the message got sent or not or if it was timed out or what have you.

Lol I just like to see it work. I don't need it, but I just like being able to tell if something's working or not.

And, it seems right now that nothing's working for me. Really all I want is to be able to set up SMTP in wordpress to go to my server on port 25, and then have it relay it to my ISP, on port 25 again. I can't figure out how to do this at all. The port that wordpress talks to can't have SSL or auth enabled(the plugin i'm using doesn't support SSL), but both must be enabled to relay the mail to my ISP.
