i am having problems with my dial up ppp connection when ppp stays alive it doesnt connect it just locks up trying to connect, ping tracert and other networking tools do not work, is there any way that this can be fixed.........the only thing i am thinking now is that it is a gateway problem.......as i do not have that configured....i logged in through terminal and everything works fine, is there anything that i can do to get this straightened out??? been working on this for a few days now and am totally lost. will appreciate any help i can get.......

use the tools ifconfig and route.
What does route -n tells you?
What does ifconfig tell you?
Set up a default route with:
route add default gw ppp0
or similar.
