Port forwarding - Complex

Hello all,

I hope you can help me. This is the question I have.

Basically we have 2 links to the internet here. One is for our normal internet use, and the other is going to be used for mail/web servers. I'll name the two links <NORMAL> and <SERVERS>.

We have two internal subnets (192.168.14.0/24 and 192.168.15.0/25)

What I want to do, is forward <SERVERS>:25 which is connected to 192.168.14.6, to 192.168.14.4. Now, 192.168.14.4's default gateway is not 192.168.14.6, but it is 192.168.14.2. Confusing?

I have set up the port forward using IP tables and NAT
(iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp -d <SERVER> --dport 25 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.14.4:25)

Should this work? Well it is not. I think i have narrowed it down to 192.168.14.4 not having the gateway 192.168.14.6. Because it will work fine when I use a machine (192.168.15.2) which is also on a different interface card on machine 192.168.14.6. I can telnet from 192.168.14.6 to 192.168.14.4:25

I am really confusing myself here, i hope you can understand.

What can I do to get this to work?

Thanks in advance,
Andre
