Pop3d in Redhat 7.1

When I run '/sbin/ipop3d' from the command line, all I get is :

+OK POP3 Bugtel v2000.70rh server ready

But the daemon doesn't start, and I have to ctrl-c to get back to the command line. What's the deal? How can I invoke the pop3 daemon short of restarting xinetd?

restarting xinetd IS how you start the service. the /sbin file is the actual server that conenctions talk to, and the xnietd service connects a certain port to that daemon, starting it as and when someone conencts to that port. nothign wrong with restarting xinetd

Ok, I got it up and running but when I send an e-mail to 'mailer@my.ip.range' (no hostname) I get the following returned message:

The original message was received at Tue, 15 Jan 2002 11:52:03 -0600 (CST)
from [my.ip] (may be forged)

that's nothign to do with pop3, it's sendmail or whatever smtp server you are using.
