POP Server Question

I have set up my machine to work as a POP mail server.

Everything is working fine on the linux machine, but I can't receive email on the surround worksations. I was told to use the pop server's ip address as both the smtp server setting and the pop server in the various workstations email client programs. The interanal ip for the pop server is 192.168.0.212. I also have a external ip address accessable to the outside internet that my ISP routs to my LAN ip address. Is there settings in sendmail I need to adjust.

Can anyone help?

well as long as you did not sent sendmail to relay for a specific network range your smtp server setting is not correct. regarding the pop server, it has NOTHING to do with your sendmail config. can you telnet to it ?

telnet 192.168.0.212 110 ?

which pop server are you using ?

POP goes the weasel

OK .. im trying to setup my own POP, and IMAP server.
I have a dedicated machine, hosting multiple domains, with multiple mail accounts.

I saw the qmailrocks post.

But I also see that there are components already on my Fedora Core 1 install that I can use to set this up.

Help. Im confused.

I can turn the xinetd services ipop3 and imap on. But I dont know how to use them, how to configure them.

Assuming your mailserver MTA is on the POP server, you need to configure sendmail and change the MX record for the domain you wish to receive emails for.

POP is simple - all you have to do is enable in xinetd.
