pop before smtp with sendmail

Does anyone have found an easy to set up, working solution for pop before smtp together with sendmail and maybe vm-pop3d? Which combination of sendmail and a pop3-server do you use?

// Moderator note: I'm grafting this onto /Networking. Reason: grep -q security returned 1 .
