Poor performance red hat 9 with Exceed

I have installed Red Hat 9 in a server Compaq with Pentium III processor and 512 MB memory. When I want to login from my PC using Exceed, the performance is very poor but when I login is the server console the performance is normal. I am using KDE. Do you know which is the problem or do you have a list of file that I must check the configuration.
Thank in advance
